What's in my Hospital Bag?

Our hospital bags are officially packed and ready to go!  By the 4th baby I feel pretty experienced in knowing what to bring to the hospital but my mentality was and always will be...you can never be too prepared (but you can be realistic).

When it came time to packing our bags I couldn't help but envision Kate Middleton and Prince William leaving the hospital just hours after giving birth and her looking like she just stepped out of a magazine photoshoot.  I guess when you're one of the Royals it comes with the territory but come on?? ...any female who has ever given birth knows that's just not realistic!  But that's not to say you can't try to feel good about yourself after labouring (for sometimes hours!) and giving birth...especially if you want to.  For me, bringing my children into this world were 3 of the most amazing days in my whole life and I'll never forget them, plus I have about 100 photos (of each child) documenting every minute of their first day...how could I forget -ha!  Looking half decent in those photos was important to me, but I was also very realistic about how I went about it.

So What's In My Hospital Bag???

Nursing tank top and comfy capris
Nursing gown and housecoat
Nursing bra (my oldest most comfortable one)
My birkenstocks
Comfy socks and my compression socks
My oldest and favourite lululemon zip-up jacket
2 very comfortable dresses to wear home (I couldn't decide which one)
My makeup bag with minimal makeup (mascara, lip gloss, blush, headband, some elastics and hair clips, brush, dry shampoo)
My essential oils (peppermint, lavender, deep blue muscle rub, purify - a cleansing blend and maybe a few others)
Natural face wipes
Nipple cream
Toothbrush/toothpaste (and gum just in case)
Camera and charger
Cell phone charger
My pillow
Comfy underwear and pads (although the hospital does provide some)
Pens for filling out paperwork
Water bottle

My Hubby's Hospital Bag...

I allowed my husband to pack his own which means it's probably not done yet but I do know he'll be bringing his own pillow this time (the hospital ones just don't cut it).

Her Diaper Bag...

Newborn diapers
Change pad
Pampers sensitive baby wipes
Non-petroleum jelly
2 sleepers
1 sleep gown
socks
2 swaddle blankets
1 knit blanket
Newborn hat (the hospital also provides a more casual one)
2 washcloths and baby body wash/shampoo
1 baby towel

Well I think that pretty much covers it...and anything we may have forgotten can always be brought to the hospital once our family and friends arrive.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

To My Grandpa on his 100th Birthday

On Sunday my grandfather turned 100 and we had a beautiful celebration.  I promise to post photos from the event once they are ready...I can hardly wait to see them!  Today I decided to share my speech completely unaltered.  If it sounds like I'm talking, it's because I literally recorded myself talking to myself about my grandpa...then I typed out what I said - almost word for word.  It truly helped me to speak from the heart and talk about the memories I'll have forever...   For my grandpa on his 100 th birthday…   My grandfather was born on February 18 th , 1918…fast forward about 64 years, and that’s when I came into the picture.   And that’s where I’m going to start.   My grandfather has been a part of my life as far back as I can remember.   At a very young age my mom and I moved into a neighbourhood in North Mississauga.   Not long after my grandparents moved into their home just one st...

On A Positive Note

I hope everyone is staying home and staying healthy.  What an unbelievable time we are living in right now.  Most days seem completely manageable, but some days I question if I'm even going to make to the next🤔. Despite this crazy, chaotic, some days memorable, other days questionable, and needless to say - an unforgettable period in our lives, I have managed to recognize some of the more positive things...in no particular order. 1.  My kids can and do eat peanut butter every single day for lunch #noallergies #winning  2.  After being a stay at home mom for the majority of the past 9 years, I was questioning if I was really ready to step back into my career as a teacher...it's only day 23 of this quarantine - but yup it's been determined, I am definitely ready to go back to work. 3.  I think after all this, those parents who maybe didn't fully appreciate teachers or comprehend the full extent of what they do - will now perhaps have a c...

Easter 2020

Wishing everyone a wonderful Easter in quarantine!   So Friday morning I actually made my kids dress up and do a quick photoshoot on our front porch.  Just because we're not celebrating with family this year, doesn't mean all of our traditions have to be put on hold😜 My two girls were pretty excited to wear new matching dresses, so I didn't have any issues getting them ready.  My little guy Jack loves putting gel in his hair, so he was pretty easy to convince as well.  As for my oldest, he absolutely hates getting dressed up for anything, so basically I gave him an ultimatum...extra schoolwork next week or a few pictures - and you have to smile!  He obviously went with the second choice (and he gave me the best smile ever) ha!   Despite the freezing cold temperatures that morning, we actually got some really cute photos...in record breaking time! No matter how you're celebrating this year, may you ...
