Haunted Hill Run

At Halloween our family took part in the Bolton Rotary Haunted Hill Run.  This event has become an annual tradition for our family and this year marked the first year my entire family was able to participate - even baby Irelynn got in on the action.  For a complete race review you can check out my blog from last year: http://creativelyk.blogspot.ca/2016/11/haunted-hill-run-race-review.html   The first event of the day was the kids 1 miler.  So originally I envisioned us all finishing the race together (one big happy family)...but that's not exactly how it happened -ha!  We stood together at the start line but when the gun signaled the start of the race Hudson took off before I could even wish him good luck.  He finished the run in record time and took pride in knowing he had beat every single member of our family.  Georgia finished strong not far behind.  Even Irelynn received her first race medal as I pushed her across the finish line in the running stroller.  Last but n

A Facebook Challenge

I've enjoyed following my friends and family on Facebook the past few weeks who have been participating in a photo challenge.    7 black and white photos of your life.  No photos of people.  No explanation.  Challenge someone new everyday.  I challenge anyone who wants to participate...   Making the connection between each photo and the person who posted it has sometimes proven difficult...and while some photos have left me wondering, so many more had me smiling - even laughing.  I suppose I knew all too well the story behind them.  It's interesting to see how well you know someone.     I usually don't participate in the these activities because I find them so hard to keep up with...but here are my photos (all 7 of them) - challenge accepted.   A picture really can speak a thousand words...                   Have a great week!

Hudson turns six

In October we celebrated Hudson's 6th birthday...right after Thanksgiving!  Two fairly large parties within a week of each other meant my hubby and I had our hands full and our banks accounts pretty much empty.  On a positive note: we love entertaining and our kids love it too - so all the celebrations made for a fun-filled and memorable week. For months Hudson had decided that for his birthday party, he wanted all of his friends and family to come over and play a big game of baseball out front of our house.  It seemed like a great idea and definitely budget friendly, but unfortunately a few days prior to his birthday we started checking the weather forecast and of course it didn't look good.  They were literally calling for what seemed like a mini hurricane with winds reaching speeds of over 60km/hr!  So then we started considering option B:  12 kids raging in ages from 2 to 9 running wild around our home.  Suddenly I found myself on Pinterest looking up ideas on h
