Our Little Toothless Wonder....

Georgia's new smile Knock on wood, but for a family of 5 we've been very lucky over the past 5 years with our "lack of" trips to the emergency room.  We've only had one and it was due to Georgia's fascination with putting small objects in little places.  She decided to stick a tictac up her nose and by the time we got her to the hospital, it had already traveled up her nose and down her throat...making it's safe journey into her tummy.  At the end of the day, it was a lesson learned for all of us including daddy (don't give a 2 year old a tictac -ha!).  Our next incident, although much bigger in comparison was a slightly different kind of emergency - rather than rushing her to the hospital, we ended up at the nearest dental office... It was our second last day at the cottage and all of our guests had now come and gone.  The weather was perfect and we were just beginning to settle in and enjoy some family time with the kids.  After breakfast

Sparrow Lake

Last week my family had our first vacation in over two years!  My grandfather rented a cottage for us just outside of Gravenhurst.  As a child my grandpa would always take me to Balsam Lake every summer for nearly 15 years.  My memories of those holidays are definitely some of my most memorable.  So early this year when my grandfather approached me and asked if Jordan and I would like to return to Balsam Lake nearly two decades later with our own family, the idea was certainly a favourable consideration.  However after a few days of discussing with my husband the options, I decided my memories of Balsam were best left as memories.  My husband and I wanted to begin creating our own special traditions.  And so, in early February we began the long (and often frustrating) cottage search.  After weeks of researching rentals and resorts, we finally narrowed it down to one.  Our week in Muskoka was finally booked and the count down began! The week prior to our departure, we were beyo

Water Wars

Last weekend I had one of the most memorable evenings I've ever spent with my family.  It began with a simple dinner - neither my husband or I felt like cooking,  a star wars kinder surprise for dessert and than a spectacular (and very spontaneous) water fight!  Kids vs. Parents...except Jack was on our team.  We opened the fence gates on both sides of our property, set the boundaries, made sure the road was off limits, filled the water toys and let the wars begin!  We honestly had the best time ever!  It's time together like this that all families (including ours), should be making an effort to do more of.  It costs nothing, required very little prep and left our kids exhausted and happy!  The funniest part about this whole story is that I finally thanked my husband for buying 4 gigantic water guns.   Here's a quick little recap for my readers.  For almost 2 years my oldest son has been begging me to buy him a water gun and for 2 years I have repeatedly told him &
