My Long Weekend at the Lake

"Memories made at the lake last a lifetime" One thing is for sure...long weekends since having kids have definitely changed.  Rather than packing up the car and heading north for the weekend, my hubby and I now look forward to staying home.  Life with four kids keeps us on the go 7 days a week, so when you're given a holiday Monday with nowhere to go you learn to appreciate it and take advantage of it. But this year was a little different, very unexpected, surprisingly pleasant and perfectly timed...it all started with my daughter's dance competition at the Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville, Ontario.  It was honestly the last thing I wanted to do on a long weekend (I had so much to do at home), but we had no choice.  Her team had to be dressed and ready for 2pm on Saturday afternoon, so the two of us headed north first thing Saturday morning while my mother-in-law and hubby held down the fort at home.  Thankfully the 400 northbound was smooth sailing the entire

Our little guy Jack celebrated his fourth birthday a few weeks ago surrounded by family, friends and neighbours.  We had 18 kids in our home ages 8 months to 13 years old, several adults who were all willing to lend a helping hand and 1 amazing Superhero! - from My Perfect Superhero Party We hired the first party company to call us back 2 weeks prior to the celebration...normally I'm someone who likes to read a lot of reviews or at the very least make my decision based on a friend's recommendation, but this time I was feeling desperate and time was definitely a constraint.  So I just kept my fingers crossed and hoped for the best.  I'll be honest, I was a little concerned because the company we hired last year took a deposit...and this company didn't.  I kept thinking to myself how horrible it would be if our Superhero didn't show up, how would I entertain 18 kids?  More importantly, who would I convince to wear spandex and pretend he was Captain America?

Mother's Day Weekend

Ten reasons why I'll never forget this Mother's Day weekend... 1.   My 4 year old son served me homemade sparkling lemonade and treats at his Montessori School and greeted me with the biggest hug he's ever given me. 2.   I was invited to play in a staff volleyball tournament with 7 amazing teachers and not only did we have the greatest night together, but we also finished 3rd out of almost 40 teams.  I truly get to work with some pretty awesome people! 3.   We entered our oldest son in a baseball competition on Saturday morning and on Sunday we learned that he had won and was eligible to move on to the next round of competition.  He'll be representing Caledon (in his age division) sometime in the next couple of weeks! 4.   On Sunday morning I ran the Sporting Life 10k race with 3 of my girlfriends.  We left at 5:30 in the morning.  It was still dark out and the temperature was close to freezing with a definite chance of rain, but desp

Brands I’m Loving Right Now (For My Kids)

I’m really excited to be sharing a few brands I’m absolutely loving right now.   In order to break it down, I’ve divided this blog into two sections:   this week I’ll be sharing some brands I love for my kids, and next week I’ll be focusing on myself (products I’m personally using)…sometimes you have to think about yourself too. I am definitely a huge fan of supporting local businesses and whenever possible I try to shop locally.  But occasionally I like to venture out and try other companies...and sometimes it can be such a pain!  It often means dealing with higher shipping costs, exchanges/returns can be really confusing and there can even be hidden costs.  I would be lying if I said everything I’ve ever ordered had arrived on time just as I had expected, but for the most part the brands I am sharing have been tried, tested and true.  I wouldn't be recommending them if I wasn't truly happy with my experiences.  Let's begin...  Remie Girl Prod
