  We spent our last long weekend of summer in the Kawartha's visiting family.  One of the highlights of our weekend away was attending the Kinmount Fair.  Our family is no stranger to small-town community events.  Every year we look forward to the Fall Fair in our own community - so you can imagine how excited our kids were when we arrived in Kinmount, bright and early Sunday morning.  They had a blast...exciting games and endless rides, hot dogs and lemonade, face painting, first time trying cotton candy...can you believe it?... they didn't like it!, visiting the firefighters and feeding the animals.  By noon they were all exhausted from the morning festivities- mommy and daddy enjoyed a very quiet car ride home.  We can count on one hand the number of times all three kids have fallen asleep at the same time - it's a very rare event indeed, but my hubby and I happily took some time to begin discussing our fall bucket list! I honestly considered skipping my blog this week and taking a break...not so much due to lack of time (although it's been a very hectic week!), but rather I was afraid to face my own emotions.  I knew once I started writing I would be forced to really think about how I was feeling and finding the motivation to get started was difficult. This is first for me...I've never written a race review so I'm really excited to share with you some advice, highlights and minor disappointments from last weekend's Mud Hero 2016. The Event Itself Mud Hero is an obstacle race on foot.  The series offers various event locations across Canada and two standard race distances.  A 6km course as well as an ultra 10km course for the more seasoned athlete.  They also offer a children's event geared towards your little athletes ages 4 to 13.  It's basically a downsized version of the adult event.  Here's the awesome part and what makes the race extremely unique...by the end of the course you'll be completely covered in mud - head to toe!
