Happy Easter

Happy Easter!   ...well almost.  I'm so excited for the next couple days and today was the perfect start to the Holiday long weekend.  We did it all today!  Playdates, baking, cooking, cleaning...all in preparation for our Easter Party on Sunday.  We're hosting dinner for 26 family members and friends, and I couldn't be more excited.  My brother and his girlfriend also arrived this evening.  The kids were patiently waiting all day for their arrival, but unfortunately Hudson and Irelynn were the only ones still awake when they pulled in...it just means we're going to have a very exciting morning when everyone wakes up.   I wanted to share a short blog and wish everyone a wonderful weekend before the chaos begins.  On Wednesday I made the most adorable shoes for Georgia and myself, after seeing a similar designer pair on Instagram (that cost way too much!).  I figured I could make them for next to nothing - and indeed I was right.  I purchased both pairs of shoes fro

100 Years Loved

As many of you know my grandfather (on my mom's side) turned 100 on February 18th.  Over the years we have acknowledged each of his birthdays, usually a small celebration and only immediate family.  This was always at his request.  However we made him promise that if he made it to 100, we were going to throw him one of the best parties he had ever been to.  And so...that's exactly what we did.   It was the most beautiful celebration of his life.  He was surrounded by family and friends who had arrived from both near and far.  I was overwhelmed by the number of people who took time out of their busy lives to celebrate with him.  It was simply the greatest feeling seeing him all dressed up in his suit and tie, corsage on his jacket and the biggest smile across his face.  His eyes lit up every time he turned to greet a family member, an old friend or a surprise guest.  His entire life he's always been one to put others first, but that day we went above and beyond t

Georgia's Bedroom Finally Complete

March Break is over and everyone is back to school, back to work, back to regular routines.  This morning was a little bit of a challenge - trying to convince the kiddies that going back to school was going to be fun!  Seeing their friends again, celebrating spring tomorrow and getting ready for Easter.  They didn't quite go for it...instead they marched out the door complaining, trying to come convince us that they should be allowed to stay home one more day.    I was actually a little relieved when I realized how much our kids enjoyed the break.  We had so many friends who were going out of town on vacation and that left me feeling a little worried our kids would be bored...but au contraire!  We had such a great 9 days.  I was actually sad to see the kids and my hubby head back to school and work today.  Made me wish summer could arrive a little sooner.   Some of the things we enjoyed over the break included: Bowling with all the grandparents 2 Birthday celebration

Meet My Kids

For Valentine's Day I had my friend and neighbour take some photos of the kids.  We later used them to surprise Daddy and he loved them.  Normally I wouldn't consider doing a Valentine's Day photoshoot, however when my girlfriend (who happens to have her own photography business) posted images of her own adorable children holding giant X and O balloons...I just couldn't resist!  In my own head, I still had to somehow justify it, but that didn't take long.  I had already bought the outfits because it was just days before my grandfather's 100th birthday party.  I also knew it was only a matter of time before my oldest son would happily and willingly agree to pose for such a photo.  What really got me though - was the fact that I had the perfect number of kids for the image I wanted her to create: XOXO I couldn't have been happier with the turnout.  What I love most about the photos is how my friend was able to capture so perfectly each of their ind
