Life Update

With less than a couple weeks before my official due date, here's a little up-date on life...

  1. Last weekend was so much fun but really busy and so hot!  Normally I wouldn't be complaining about the heat but when you're almost 9 months pregnant and forced to wear compression tights everyday...you really start to feel the heat.  Regardless, I didn't let it slow me down.  We had dance practice to attend, soccer, swimming lessons, baseball and a piano recital (Hudson's first one - we're so proud of him!).
  2. We did get to enjoy a barbeque and swim with friends and it was honestly such a treat to have dinner prepared for us with no clean-up, plus the kiddies had a blast.  They fell asleep as soon as we got in the car to head home - a true indication of a fun-filled night.
  3. I had my last ultrasound and once again they confirmed it's girl...I guess you can never be 100% but at least I've seen it with my own eyes a few times now, so I'm feeling pretty confident.
  4. I think we have finally decided on a name but we're still arguing over how to spell it -ha!
  5. Race day is only hours away and I'm feeling pretty pumped!  After the race my plan is to officially take a break from running...I say that now but I'm sure I'll change my mind next week - especially if I'm still pregnant.
  6. I feel like we've never been so behind when it comes to being baby ready...that being said, the important things are in place: car seat is cleaned and in the car, diaper bag and my hospital bag are ready to go, house is clean and organized for the most part - but it seriously only takes one meal or 5 minutes of playtime to make it look like a bomb went off.
  7. My daughter's first dance recital is on Father's Day and I'm so excited to see her on stage for the first time.  We ended up paying a ridiculous amount of money for the DVD - just in case I go into labour or get stuck at the hospital.
  8. Speaking of Father's Day...the kids and I still have some things to get ready.
  9. Despite our crazy lives right now, we're looking to purchase an outdoor playset for the backyard.  There are so many to choose from, it's a little overwhelming.  Our only stipulation is that we don't have to put it together ourselves...we've been there, done that and never again will we attempt such a crazy task -ha!
  10. We just received confirmation of our summer vacay!  I can't wait to head up-north this year and enjoy some time with the family.
  11. I decided to start washing the baseboards in our kitchen last weekend...I basically stopped there - although they look so good right now, I'm very tempted to continue.
  12. Our vegetable garden is all ready to go (not my doing) - my amazing hubby loves to garden and he's been working really hard to get it finished.  Now if we could just find a way to stop the annoying baby rabbit from eating all of my kale I'd be very happy.
  13. But until we find a way...I'm super excited that the Farmer's Market is up and running again in our town...I guess I'll have to buy my kale there.
  14. My girlfriend bought the most amazing travel bed for her little monkey (He's almost 6 months).  I loved it so much I decided to order one this week and I can't wait to try it out this summer...here is the link to where I purchased it from: https://well.ca/products/bbluv-nido-2-in-1-travel-bed-and_119802.html.
  15. My Mat Leave officially begins next Friday, then the countdown is on!  June 27th can't come soon enough.

Have a wonderful weekend!

To My Grandpa on his 100th Birthday

On Sunday my grandfather turned 100 and we had a beautiful celebration.  I promise to post photos from the event once they are ready...I can hardly wait to see them!  Today I decided to share my speech completely unaltered.  If it sounds like I'm talking, it's because I literally recorded myself talking to myself about my grandpa...then I typed out what I said - almost word for word.  It truly helped me to speak from the heart and talk about the memories I'll have forever...   For my grandpa on his 100 th birthday…   My grandfather was born on February 18 th , 1918…fast forward about 64 years, and that’s when I came into the picture.   And that’s where I’m going to start.   My grandfather has been a part of my life as far back as I can remember.   At a very young age my mom and I moved into a neighbourhood in North Mississauga.   Not long after my grandparents moved into their home just one street over.   They were always right around the corne
Alzheimer's Disease is death before death, and I'm terrified of it." - Joey Comeau I wrote this entire entry last Sunday during my 5 hour train ride... Once again I'm on board VIA Rail train 65 to Toronto Union from Dorval, Quebec.  For my friends and family who follow my accounts through social media, it appears that I am returning home from a fun-filled weekend away - no kids, a little shopping, plenty of good food, morning runs along the St. Lawrence, non-alcoholic wine and loads of good conversation.  Not to mention this was the first time in over 5 years that I've left home and my family to be on my own for a few days.  But below the surface and behind all the charming photos, this weekend had much more meaning and significance than I ever could have imagined...For the first time in 7 years I went to visit my father. I never wanted to make this trip alone and nor did I intend on waiting so long.  I should have done it years prior but the timing

Tasca Park

A couple weeks ago it was a beautiful Sunday morning and all I wanted to do was pack up the car with the entire family and head out to enjoy the day.  I was thinking something really fun - like heading to Center Island.  The reality was we were completely unprepared for any kind of outing...especially one that required planning ahead and being organized.  Instead we decided to save our Island adventure for another day (maybe even another year -ha!) and got to work cleaning up some things around the house.  All those really boring things I hate doing on a Sunday, but those are the same things you're grateful you did when Monday morning rolls around.    By the afternoon we were feeling ready and prepped for the week ahead but I still had that desire to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather.  My hubby and I decided to throw the diaper bag in the car, fill up the water bottles and head out to one of the local parks in Caledon.  We really had no idea where we were g
