Be My Valentine

With Valentine's Day just around the corner I decided to compile a list of some of my favourite ideas to make this holiday fun for the entire family.  Hopefully you'll find some inspiration...I know I sure did!

Fun loving snacks and meals:
I've tried very similar ideas in the past but the kiddies love it when I pull out the heart-shaped cookie cutters and get creative with their meals.  I'm especially excited to make the strawberry pancakes with sprinkles in them.  Those are going to be a sure hit in our household!

Valentine cards and gifts for school/day care friends
This year I'm feeling relieved because my oldest son only has 6 students in his class (including himself), which means I can step it up a notch with the gifts we give to his classmates.  He's such a fan of LEGO so I think we'll be choosing that option, although I love the idea of homemade Valentine crackers (just like the Christmas ones).

I'm pretty sure I posted the same photo last year -ha!.

As for my two younger monkeys, they have several students in their pre-school classes so I'll be sticking with something much easier to make and more affordable.

Home décor
Last year I went all out with decorating our home, this year we're going to be out of town just before the Holiday so I've chosen to put my energy into other things...although I can't get enough of all this pink and red décor!

If I ever win a gift card to a party store...this is how I'll be spending it - hundreds of helium balloons!

DIY cards, gifts and of course a little photography
I love taking time with my family to make the majority of gifts we give to grandparents, extended family and friends.  It's definitely cost effective and most importantly it encourages time spent together.  I wish I had time for all these amazing diy projects!

Maybe for my hubby!

I'll be making these for all 3 kiddos and one for Hudson's teacher too!

Definitely on my To Do list - I love this backdrop!

Holiday baking
It wouldn't be right if I didn't share some of these simply delectable ideas for sugar cookies.  Baking and decorating cookies is one of my favourite past-times.  I always look forward to creating the perfect treat - no matter what the occasion!

You can buy food markers at pretty much any store that sells baking supplies (I got mine at the Bulk Barn)

Other ideas I just had to share
I'm almost certain my daughter will not give me the opportunity to try these adorable hairstyles but I'm determined to make it happened -ha!  Wish me luck!

Also, I'm not one to ever paint my nails but if it only has to last for one day...maybe I'll make the extra effort this year.  I've been meaning to try Jamberry Nail Wraps.  These wraps offer a fun and alternative method of doing your nails.  Their products are durable, non-toxic (huge bonus) and easy to use - or so I've heard.  I'm currently waiting on my first order to arrive!
Check out their website:   https://www.jamberry.com/ca/en/

Very cute diy mani - using nail polish!

Jamberry Nail Wraps - check out their Holiday sets!

Finally, I just had to include these completely useless shoes...the funny thing is I actually bought the red LOVE ones and I absolutely love them -ha!  Just for the record, I only paid $15 for them (thanks to a credit note I found and had to use asap).  Already I've had so many compliments since I started wearing them to work this month and my students think they are just the greatest shoes ever!

On a budget - no problem!  Just cut out 2 matching hearts using red felt and stick them on your favourite flats!

Have a wonderful week and Happy Valentine's Day!

To My Grandpa on his 100th Birthday

On Sunday my grandfather turned 100 and we had a beautiful celebration.  I promise to post photos from the event once they are ready...I can hardly wait to see them!  Today I decided to share my speech completely unaltered.  If it sounds like I'm talking, it's because I literally recorded myself talking to myself about my grandpa...then I typed out what I said - almost word for word.  It truly helped me to speak from the heart and talk about the memories I'll have forever...   For my grandpa on his 100 th birthday…   My grandfather was born on February 18 th , 1918…fast forward about 64 years, and that’s when I came into the picture.   And that’s where I’m going to start.   My grandfather has been a part of my life as far back as I can remember.   At a very young age my mom and I moved into a neighbourhood in North Mississauga.   Not long after my grandparents moved into their home just one st...

Tasca Park

A couple weeks ago it was a beautiful Sunday morning and all I wanted to do was pack up the car with the entire family and head out to enjoy the day.  I was thinking something really fun - like heading to Center Island.  The reality was we were completely unprepared for any kind of outing...especially one that required planning ahead and being organized.  Instead we decided to save our Island adventure for another day (maybe even another year -ha!) and got to work cleaning up some things around the house.  All those really boring things I hate doing on a Sunday, but those are the same things you're grateful you did when Monday morning rolls around.    By the afternoon we were feeling ready and prepped for the week ahead but I still had that desire to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather.  My hubby and I decided to throw the diaper bag in the car, fill up the water bottles and head out to one of the local parks in Caledon...

Last Minute Ideas for your Christmas Elf

A little mid-week blog post…Just like last year I wanted to share some quick and easy last minute Elf on the Shelf ideas.   I totally stole some of these ideas from friends and family but tis the season for sharing!   Enjoy!! Ball Pit!  Elves only! I've been doing a lot of yoga lately so I thought it would be fun if our Elf joined in on the fun! Our little guy Jack loved this one!  He wanted Timbit to wash all his cars! I've seen this one used a few times and I think it's a great idea!  The kids were really excited to fill the box and once it was full, they started a second one. They kiddies played tic tac toe all day!  And then they ate the marshmallows (I used edible ink). We let our oldest three kids finish the pack of bubblegum!  So of course this idea was a huge hit.  The count-down to Christmas is on...Enjoy the rest of the week!
