What's on your March Break Agenda?

This year marks Hudson's first real March Break!  As a teacher I've always had the week off, but this year is special because I get to spend it with all 3 kids (and my hubby has some time off too!).  I feel as though this will be our last time together before I head back to work in a couple months - it's crazy how time flies!  In previous years, March Break was always when Jordan and I would head south for a couple weeks...more recently it's been financially difficult.  Not to mention a lot of work!  Traveling with a family of 5 plus a dog - I'm happy to wait a little longer.  We look forward to those days returning, but for now we're excited to stay local and make the best of our more budget friendly week together!

Here are some of the things we have on the agenda...
1. With Easter just around the corner we'll be taking a few hours to make some of these fun crafts!  Crafting is something I've always had a passion for, and I have so many fond memories of spending time with my grandfather creating many projects together.  We'll definitely be using some of these great ideas!
I love this! ...and we have so many potatoes in our cupboard.  I was wondering how we were going to eat them all!

    2. I'm really excited about this next project!  My hubby and I have decided we're going to start our very own herb garden.  I've never really had a green thumb but I'm eager to learn and share this experience with the kids.  Jord has already purchased all the materials we'll need to get started so we figured March Break would be the perfect opportunity.
Jord was so excited to start this project!  We've already started painting the clay pots.
Future Goals!  Here's what we hope to build this summer or next.
3. We'll be heading over to the Caledon Center to do some swimming.  With pool season starting very soon I'm hoping to get the kiddos ready and eager to jump in.  They won't be doing lessons until the summer so the more exposure the better!
If you live in the town of Caledon be sure to check out their March Break swim and skating schedule!
4. We'll be doing some bigger outings as well!  The Maple Syrup Festival started last weekend and we've pre-purchased our tickets to go to Terra Cotta next week and learn all about how maple syrup is made...not to mention take advantage of all the other great activities they offer.  I'm a huge sucker for real maple syrup so I can't wait for this outing!  Here's all the info: http://www.maplesyrupfest.com/
This little monkey loves maple syrup too and was so excited to see the Real Maple Syrup display at our local grocery store this week!
5. Our next big outing will be LEGOLAND!  I can't wait to take my son here!  This past year he's developed a passion for LEGO like no other!  He spends hours building and creating amazing structures.  I've unfortunately heard mixed reviews about LEGOLAND and I'm not looking forward to the crowds of people but we've already pre-purchased our tickets and we're planning on going later in the day - closer to dinner...fingers crossed this isn't what the rest of the world has planned -ha!  Here's their website: https://www.legolanddiscoverycentre.ca/toronto/
This is his LEGO Police House.  He has been working on it for a couple weeks now.
Hard at Work!
6. Last year my mom and I took Hudson to see Disney's Frozen on Ice and he loved it!  Georgia was a little young at the time, but I'm seriously considering taking her this year...Disney On Ice celebrates 100 Years of Magic at the Rogers Center March 17th-20th.  I'm currently looking into this option for both Hudson and Georgia.  Here's the link to ticketmaster: http://www.ticketmaster.ca/venueartist/131114/830558/?awc=4103_1457491954_8f2d9cd53043feafe75dc38865f13805&REFERRAL_ID=tmfeedbuyat219049&wt.mc_id=aff_BUYAT_219049&camefrom=CFC_BUYAT_219049&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_source=219049-TodoCanada.ca

We're hoping to  finish off the March Break with one final adventure...but these plans are still in the works so I'll be sure to share an update once the details have been finalized!

As for the rest of our week - if we still find time, I plan to spend a lot of it outdoors!  Maybe even get the bikes out if the weather permits.  I'm also in training mode with race season just around the corner so I plan to squeeze in a few long runs with the kiddos of course!  Movie night, Easter baking, playdates, and a little entertaining are also on the agenda - I think it's safe to say we're fully booked...and Jord and I have a lot of planning and organizing to do in order to make sure things run smoothly!  The best part - my daughter is officially potty trained! ...which make outings a whole lot easier!  My hubby is hoping to have a few days off during the break, but I'll also be spending some time with my mom as well as Jord's parents.  It always helps to have a extra set of hands and eyes to help with the kids - not to mention they love being with their grandparents!

Wishing you all a safe and exciting March Break with your families!  Don't forget - to spring forward!  The clocks go ahead this weekend!

To My Grandpa on his 100th Birthday

On Sunday my grandfather turned 100 and we had a beautiful celebration.  I promise to post photos from the event once they are ready...I can hardly wait to see them!  Today I decided to share my speech completely unaltered.  If it sounds like I'm talking, it's because I literally recorded myself talking to myself about my grandpa...then I typed out what I said - almost word for word.  It truly helped me to speak from the heart and talk about the memories I'll have forever...   For my grandpa on his 100 th birthday…   My grandfather was born on February 18 th , 1918…fast forward about 64 years, and that’s when I came into the picture.   And that’s where I’m going to start.   My grandfather has been a part of my life as far back as I can remember.   At a very young age my mom and I moved into a neighbourhood in North Mississauga.   Not long after my grandparents moved into their home just one street over.   They were always right around the corne
Alzheimer's Disease is death before death, and I'm terrified of it." - Joey Comeau I wrote this entire entry last Sunday during my 5 hour train ride... Once again I'm on board VIA Rail train 65 to Toronto Union from Dorval, Quebec.  For my friends and family who follow my accounts through social media, it appears that I am returning home from a fun-filled weekend away - no kids, a little shopping, plenty of good food, morning runs along the St. Lawrence, non-alcoholic wine and loads of good conversation.  Not to mention this was the first time in over 5 years that I've left home and my family to be on my own for a few days.  But below the surface and behind all the charming photos, this weekend had much more meaning and significance than I ever could have imagined...For the first time in 7 years I went to visit my father. I never wanted to make this trip alone and nor did I intend on waiting so long.  I should have done it years prior but the timing

Tasca Park

A couple weeks ago it was a beautiful Sunday morning and all I wanted to do was pack up the car with the entire family and head out to enjoy the day.  I was thinking something really fun - like heading to Center Island.  The reality was we were completely unprepared for any kind of outing...especially one that required planning ahead and being organized.  Instead we decided to save our Island adventure for another day (maybe even another year -ha!) and got to work cleaning up some things around the house.  All those really boring things I hate doing on a Sunday, but those are the same things you're grateful you did when Monday morning rolls around.    By the afternoon we were feeling ready and prepped for the week ahead but I still had that desire to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather.  My hubby and I decided to throw the diaper bag in the car, fill up the water bottles and head out to one of the local parks in Caledon.  We really had no idea where we were g
