About Me

It’s officially been 3 years since I began writing my blog and in that time so much has changed and evolved.  If you’ve recently read my About Me section you may have realized it’s very outdated so I’ve decided to rewrite it and provide you with an updated version.

Here it goes...

Hey!  I am Katie.  I live in Caledon, Ontario with my hubby of almost 7 years and our four amazing children.  A 7 year old boy with a heart of gold, a 5 year old girl whose spirit and determination are contagious, a 3 year old little boy whose energy and curiosity will keep anyone on their feet and our baby girl, whose personality is just beginning to emerge but one thing is for sure…she’s eager to be a part of everything.  Last but not least our 90 pound golden-doodle
Cody…our first “baby”.

And there you have it - 4 kids, plus a dog in less than 6 years.  Needless to say our lives have never seen a dull moment.  But despite the chaos, the obstacles, the disagreements and the daily struggles, we wouldn’t change a thing.  Life has never been sweeter, more precious and more beautiful.

I started my blog in 2016 as a way to document our family’s journey.  It has become a journal of our daily lives and a means of sharing stories, providing advice and hopefully inspiring others.  In addition I am passionate about running, fitness, nutrition, photography and art so whenever possible I try to touch upon these areas through my writing and photographs.  I love sharing real experiences - life’s highs and lows and by creating this forum I am able to accomplish just that.

XO Katie

Have a great weekend!

To My Grandpa on his 100th Birthday

On Sunday my grandfather turned 100 and we had a beautiful celebration.  I promise to post photos from the event once they are ready...I can hardly wait to see them!  Today I decided to share my speech completely unaltered.  If it sounds like I'm talking, it's because I literally recorded myself talking to myself about my grandpa...then I typed out what I said - almost word for word.  It truly helped me to speak from the heart and talk about the memories I'll have forever...   For my grandpa on his 100 th birthday…   My grandfather was born on February 18 th , 1918…fast forward about 64 years, and that’s when I came into the picture.   And that’s where I’m going to start.   My grandfather has been a part of my life as far back as I can remember.   At a very young age my mom and I moved into a neighbourhood in North Mississauga.   Not long after my grandparents moved into their home just one st...

Tasca Park

A couple weeks ago it was a beautiful Sunday morning and all I wanted to do was pack up the car with the entire family and head out to enjoy the day.  I was thinking something really fun - like heading to Center Island.  The reality was we were completely unprepared for any kind of outing...especially one that required planning ahead and being organized.  Instead we decided to save our Island adventure for another day (maybe even another year -ha!) and got to work cleaning up some things around the house.  All those really boring things I hate doing on a Sunday, but those are the same things you're grateful you did when Monday morning rolls around.    By the afternoon we were feeling ready and prepped for the week ahead but I still had that desire to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather.  My hubby and I decided to throw the diaper bag in the car, fill up the water bottles and head out to one of the local parks in Caledon...

On A Positive Note

I hope everyone is staying home and staying healthy.  What an unbelievable time we are living in right now.  Most days seem completely manageable, but some days I question if I'm even going to make to the next🤔. Despite this crazy, chaotic, some days memorable, other days questionable, and needless to say - an unforgettable period in our lives, I have managed to recognize some of the more positive things...in no particular order. 1.  My kids can and do eat peanut butter every single day for lunch #noallergies #winning  2.  After being a stay at home mom for the majority of the past 9 years, I was questioning if I was really ready to step back into my career as a teacher...it's only day 23 of this quarantine - but yup it's been determined, I am definitely ready to go back to work. 3.  I think after all this, those parents who maybe didn't fully appreciate teachers or comprehend the full extent of what they do - will now perhaps have a c...
