Our First Skiing Adventure

Introducing our kids to skiing has been on my to-do list for a few years and this past January we finally made it happen!  I literally spent weeks gathering as much information as I could in regards to buying equipment vs renting it, where to go and when, taking lessons and which ski school would best meet my needs...this is what I found out: Equipment We ended up buying our 3 oldest kids used skis and boots from the local buy and sell groups in our area.  The furthest we had to drive was about 45 minutes and our total cost for all 3 pairs was just over $200.  We figured we would break even with the cost of rentals, even if they only used them a few times this year.  On the plus side we also have 4 kids, so hopefully they'll be able to pass them down to one another.  At least that's the plan...fingers crossed! Location and Ski School We decided to take the kids to Snowvalley in Barrie, Ontario.  We chose this location because their sk...

About Me

It’s officially been 3 years since I began writing my blog and in that time so much has changed and evolved.   If you’ve recently read my About Me section you may have realized it’s very outdated so I’ve decided to rewrite it and provide you with an updated version. Here it goes... Hey!   I am Katie.   I live in Caledon, Ontario with my hubby of almost 7 years and our four amazing children.   A 7 year old boy with a heart of gold, a 5 year old girl whose spirit and determination are contagious, a 3 year old little boy whose energy and curiosity will keep anyone on their feet and our baby girl, whose personality is just beginning to emerge but one thing is for sure…she’s eager to be a part of everything.   Last but not least our 90 pound golden-doodle  Cody…our first “baby”.   And there you have it - 4 kids, plus a dog in less than 6 years.   Needless to say our lives have never seen a dull moment.   But despite the chao...

The Tradition Continues at Blue

We continued our tradition this year and headed up to Blue Mountain over the Christmas break, although it almost didn’t happen for a number of reasons.   It seemed like nothing was going our way… then thankfully in the final hours everything fell into place (like it was meant to be).   But we only had a few hours left to get ready!   Friday morning arrived bright and early and the kiddies were beyond excited, which made trying to leave our home even more challenging.   Regardless we managed to get out the door in good time and upon arrival we were ready and eager to begin our day.   Everything went as smoothly as could be. In my last blog I mentioned how sometimes I get feeling a little down after the holidays and ringing in the new year has never brought me much joy…but spending the day at Blue Mountain with my family, one of my besties and our neighbours was exactly what I needed to kick start the new year. Some highlights from our day: S...

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!  To be honest I'm not one that loves the idea of a new year...I always feel like I'm still trying to get over the letdown of Christmas coming to an end, and once January 1st arrives - then it's really over.  I still manage to enjoy New Years Eve and every year we host a great party, but then the reality sets in and it usually takes me a few days (more like a week) before my outlook on the new year ahead takes a turn for the better.  And I definitely don't set new year resolutions (right away that is). That being said, I'm happy to announce my mindset has already started to shift in the right direction and I'm feeling really excited about the year ahead.  Spending the most beautiful day at Blue Mountain last week with my family and friends was exactly what I needed to jump start 2019.  Since then I've tried to focus on the things I have to look forward to this year and the things I hope to accomplish (those new year resolutions a...
