Snack Time

With 4 kids at home I can spend anywhere from 4 to 6 hours in our kitchen on any given day...cooking, cleaning, baking, eating, then cleaning again.  And when we entertain (which is quite a bit) I'm in the kitchen even longer.  But I don't mind it, not one bit.  Over the past 5 years I've really taken an interest in clean and healthy eating.  I put a lot of effort (and money -ha!) into purchasing our food, prepping it, displaying it and of course enjoying it.  And the best part - my family is benefitting the most.  My kids love food and all things about it.  From growing our own garden every spring, to our weekly visits to the Farmer's Market in the summer.  In the fall it's always a tradition to go apple picking, and on a daily basis you'll find at least one of my kids in the kitchen helping prepare the meal or even better making the dessert!   One of the things my ki...

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!  A little late in posting this one but I've been enjoying some serious family time.  I loved being home with the kiddies over Christmas and even the hubby was able to spend a few more days than expected at home with the fam.  We used our time together very productively and managed to accomplish a few things around the home that we have been meaning to get to for a long time.     #1: After spending numerous hours sorting through all of the toys and books we own, we decided to donate 8 garbage bags full of stuff...and most of it was in pretty good condition.  It felt unbelievably good to get rid of things and find new permanent homes for everything we decided to keep.  My hubby and I finished the job late one evening and while the house only stayed tidy the next morning for about 5 minutes, it made cleaning up that day a lot easier.  Every toy in our home now has a place and although it's still my h...

Merry Christmas

2 More days!  I can't believe it's almost here...I'm still not feeling ready -ha!  But regardless of what I have left to do Santa will surely be on his way very soon, old traditions will carry on and new memoires will be made -and everything else will hopefully fall into place. Tonight all the festivities begin at my mother's house and I can hardly wait to just sit back and take it all in.  There's really nothing better than having my entire family together enjoying the Holidays.  This year my grandfather will be celebrating is 100th Christmas alongside baby Irelynn who will be celebrating her 1st.  It's things like this that make the Holidays so special. From our family to yours, we wish you a safe and joyous Christmas...eat lots, dance lots, focus on what you do have and laugh always.  Here are a few last minute ideas and some photos of what we've been up to... My brother and his girlfriend...
